About the Contest

Think HGTV’s Flea Market Flip! Designers will compete by redesigning pieces of furniture and home accessories that have been purchased at either ReStore in the Buffalo area.  Let your creativity and DIY skills run wild.  The final designs will be put on display at our 3rd Annual ReStore DIY Contest and Auction on Friday October 13th, 2017 at our South ReStore location.  On the night of the event, we will give awards for Best in Category, People’s Choice, and Best in Show.

The final designed pieces will then be sold to benefit Habitat for Humanity Buffalo.

Designers will be given a few months to shop, design, build, and upcycle the items they choose to go along with one (or more) of a certain theme.  This year’s themes are Shabby Chic, A Touch of Metal, Stylish Storage, Kickin’ It, and One-Of-A-Kind.  Each design team will receive a certain amount of ReStore Dollars to fund their project, and are also encouraged to shop at other second hand stores, as well as Valu Home Centers in the Western New York area.

Last year’s DIY Contest and Auction Event raised over $15,000 for Habitat for Humanity Buffalo.  That’s enough money to install a new roof on one home.  This year we are shooting for much more!
